Overview of the workshop.

In the first six months of 2025, the Management Board of NNCB UGGp has intensified communication and education activities to raise community awareness about geological heritage conservation, environmental protection, and sustainable tourism development in line with UNESCO criteria. At the same time, the Management Board has conducted surveys and provided consulting support to communities in developing eco-friendly tourism models to improve livelihoods while preserving heritage. It has also enhanced promotion, diversified traditional handicraft products to serve tourism, promoted equitable and sustainable community development, and organized capacity building workshop to provide local residents with knowledge and skills in disaster prevention, geological hazard mitigation, and climate change adaptation.

The conference provided an overview of the activities of NNCB UGGp in the first half of 2025, as well as the progress in implementing heritage conservation and promotion efforts with the participation of the Geopark partners. The training emphasized the role and responsibilities of partners in preserving heritage through communication and promotion activities about the Geopark and its partners; supporting and sharing benefits with the community; protecting the environment; showcasing distinctive products of the Geopark partners; and participating in study tours and experience-sharing activities to widespread the concept of sustainable and responsible tourism development.

During the workshop, the Geopark partners actively exchanged and discussed the sustainable tourism development Plan of NNCB UGGp partner network, as well as shared challenges and opportunities in implementing sustainable tourism activities associated with community benefit-sharing, and environmental protection.
The workshop aimed to enhance awareness and capacity of members of the Geopark partner nework in sustainable tourism development, providing guidance on responsible tourism practices, geological and cultural heritage conservation, and environmental protection. Through these efforts, it contributed to strengthening the role and responsibility of organizations, units, and individuals in the Geopark partner network in jointly implementing sustainable development goals.
