Training workshop on preserving heritage associated with sustainable tourism development at Dia Tren paper production village
Overview of the workshop.
The workshop was attended by representatives of the Quang Uyen Commune People's Committee; leaders and officials from the Department of Culture and Society (Quang Uyen Commune); the Party Cell Secretary, village Head of Dia Tren, and 64 local households.
Mr. Duong Quang Dong, Vice Chairman of Quang Uyen Commune People's Committee, gave inputs on the orientation for preserving traditional craft villages and promoting sustainable tourism in Dia Tren paper village.
The training focused on the orientation of preserving traditional craft villages in association with sustainable tourism development; introduced ongoing initiatives by the NNCB UGGp Management Board in Dia Tren traditional paper production village; and provided guidance on how to effectively utilize cultural values to serve community-based tourism. It also offered consultation on improving the quality of craft village products and strengthening linkages among traditional craft villages in the region.
Member of NNCB UGGp introduced briefly activities the Management Board of NNCB UGGp has implemented in Dia Tren village.
In addition, residents received information on regulations and procedures for registering lodging and food service businesses. They were also advised on how to develop and implement village and community operational regulations, including: management, organization, and coordination of activities; roles and responsibilities of members; regulations on protecting traditional crafts and maintaining environmental sanitation; rules on benefit sharing and upholding traditional crafts.
Ms. Hoang Thi Tham, Deputy Head of the Tourism Management Division (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism) introduced the regulations and procedures for registering accommodation and food service businesses to the worshop participants.
During the training, villagers actively discussed and shared challenges and difficulties faced in maintaining traditional crafts and participating in community tourism activities.
Mr. Vi Tran Thuy, Director of the NNCB UGGp Management Board presented the orientation for developing operational regulations for Dia Tren tradtional paper production village.
The conference aimed to raise public awareness about preserving the unique features of traditional craft villages, while enhancing the community's role as key stakeholders in sustainable and responsible tourism development. This contributes to diversifying and improving the quality of tourism products, increasing income for locals, and promoting socio-economic development in harmony with cultural preservation, environmental protection, and equitable benefit sharing within the community, towards transforming Dia Tren traditional paper production village into an attractive destination in the NNCB UGGp.
Local people share challenges that they encountered when implementing community-based tourism activities.
