Training to enhance capacity for implementing geopark education activities in schools
The training workshop provided and reinforced
knowledge about Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark; its geological,
cultural, and historical heritage values; experiential routes within the
geopark; as well as the Global Geoparks Network and regional networks.
At the workshop, students were guided to
integrate club activities with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
and to respond to international events launched by the Global Geoparks Network,
such as Earth Day (April 22), Asia-Pacific Geopark Week (April 22–27), World
Environment Day (June 5), International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples
(August 9), the “Clean Up the World” campaign, International Geodiversity Day
(October 6), and International Mountain Day (December 11). They also practiced
developing activity plans for the “Geopark Ambassador” clubs and improved their
communication and teamwork skills.

During the field survey program, club members
practiced designing communication activities and environmental and landscape
protection initiatives at heritage sites such as Khuoi Ky Stone Village and Ban
Gioc Waterfall (Dam Thuy Commune); Lung Luong Ammonite (Lung Nam Commune); Pac
Bo Special National monument (Truong Ha Commune); Phja Oac Granite and Phja Oac
panorama (Thanh Cong Commune); and Special National Monument - 1950 Border
Victory Site (Dong Khe Commune).
At each survey site, members organized group
activities focusing on the historical, cultural, geological, and biodiversity
values of the geopark. They also showcased their talents through performances
about their homeland Cao Bang and efforts to preserve ethnic languages in
schools. Through these activities, students strengthened their knowledge,
developed teamwork skills, and promoted their individual strengths.
The training program aims to equip teachers and
students with knowledge and skills, enhance their capacity to implement club
activities linked to environmental protection education and heritage education
within the geopark. It also seeks to promote communication and awareness of the
Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark designation and the United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals. Ultimately, the program creates an environment
for students to consolidate knowledge, develop skills, share initiatives in
organizing club activities, improve the effectiveness of geopark education in
schools, foster national pride, and raise awareness of preserving and promoting
local cultural and natural heritage values.
