Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark Management Board attends training course on heritage impact assessment
Mr. Tran Dinh Thanh, Deputy Director General of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, delivered the opening speech at the training course.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Tran Dinh Thanh, Deputy Director General of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; representatives from UNESCO in Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep, Deputy Director of the Dien Bien Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with more than 150 participants, including representatives of the UNESCO Office in Hanoi, museums, heritage sites, research institutes under relevant Ministries, cultural heritage and cultural management divisions of provincial Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, museums and heritage management boards and centers across the country, as well as other relevant organizations and units.
During the training, participants studied topics such as guidelines on heritage impact assessment in the context of World Heritage, experiences of localities in disaster response for heritage protection-case studies from Vietnam, new regulations on historical and cultural relics and scenic landscapes in the 2024 Law on Cultural Heritage, evaluation of cooperation and improvement of heritage impact assessment tools after disasters for both cultural and natural heritage, and dissemination of Government Decree No. 208/NĐ-CP dated July 17, 2025, regulating authority, procedures, and documentation for archaeological planning, conservation, restoration and rehabilitation of relics and scenic landscapes, investment projects in construction, renovation, and repair of private houses inside and outside protected areas of relics and World Heritage sites, infrastructure upgrading projects, and state museum exhibitions.
Participants learned about experiences of localities in disaster response for heritage protection-case studies from Vietnam.
By attending this training, Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark Management Board had the opportunity to update knowledge, access international heritage management methods, and learn from the practical experiences of other localities and specialized units nationwide. This was an important occasion to improve professional capacity, networking, and strengthen cooperation in heritage management, conservation and promotion, aiming toward sustainable tourism development in the province.
The training course contributed to improving the quality of human resources for heritage management boards and centers nationwide in terms of professional knowledge and skills, as well as the implementation of activities to protect and promote World Cultural and Natural Heritage in Vietnam under the World Heritage Convention. At the same time, it provided a platform for sharing experiences in heritage management and conservation, facilitating exchanges and strengthening collaboration among officials directly engaged in World Heritage management.
